Travellers heading to Mount Bromo in East Java, Indonesia should note that due to recent rise in volcanic activity, the area within 2.5 km radius from the crater has been closed off to visitors. Due to this restriction visitors temporarily will not be able to visit some of the popular tourist spots within Tengger Caldera, such as the savannah, whispering sand (Pasir Berbisik), and climbing the Bromo crater. Sunrise and sunset viewing is still possible from the viewing platform at mount Penanjakan.

Just a while back the Travcult crew had an opportunity to visit Bandung, the capital of West Java province in Indonesia. After one full first day of factory outlet shopping we were all ready for some nature sightseeing. On our second day in Bandung, we downed a quick breakfast at hotel Gino Feruci Braga and greeted our hired driver, Pak Nandang, at the agreed timing to head to our first destination of the day, the crater of Mount Tangkuban Perahu.

The first ever post in this site brings us to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java, Indonesia. Over a million years ago, a violent volcanic eruption tore up the area, blowing massive amount of soil into the air, resulting in the creation of a vast crater.
