Remember ‘The Beach’? The movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, depicted an isolated beach paradise where travelers, captivated by its beauty and wearied by the worries of the world decided to remain in a secret community. The Travcult crew loved the movie and the novel by Alex Garland from which it was adapted, and was prepared to love the Thai province it was set in. And so we set off to Krabi.

Mention ‘sunset’ and ‘seafood’ to any seasoned Bali traveller, and the first word that springs up in their mind will likely be “Jimbaran”. Located to the south of Denpasar airport, Jimbaran has long maintained its reputation for good and exceptionally fresh seafood. Fishing boats can be seen parked just off the coast; these vessels probably provide their daily catch of fresh seafood to the restaurants lining the beach.

Kuta Beach

Bali is well known for its beaches, many of which provide excellent surf, others idyllic scenery. Arguably the most famous of them all is Kuta beach, located near the southern end of Bali. Many decades ago, before the arrival of tourists, Kuta was little more than a sleepy fishing village. It all changed when the first tourism strip on Bali developed.
