Travellers heading to Mount Bromo in East Java, Indonesia should note that due to recent rise in volcanic activity, the area within 2.5 km radius from the crater has been closed off to visitors. Due to this restriction visitors temporarily will not be able to visit some of the popular tourist spots within Tengger Caldera, such as the savannah, whispering sand (Pasir Berbisik), and climbing the Bromo crater. Sunrise and sunset viewing is still possible from the viewing platform at mount Penanjakan.

Indonesia is hosting the 60th anniversary celebration of the Asian African Conference this week, with over 3,600 delegates and guests from 109 invited countries, including 34 head of states and head of governments, expected to flock to host cities Jakarta and Bandung. A series of key events are scheduled to run between 19 and 24April 2015, ending with a historical walk by country leaders to commemorate the original 1955 conference in Bandung.
