Just a while back the Travcult crew had an opportunity to visit Bandung, the capital of West Java province in Indonesia. After one full first day of factory outlet shopping we were all ready for some nature sightseeing. On our second day in Bandung, we downed a quick breakfast at hotel Gino Feruci Braga and greeted our hired driver, Pak Nandang, at the agreed timing to head to our first destination of the day, the crater of Mount Tangkuban Perahu.

The Midtown Hotel is a relatively new 3 star business hotel located in Central Surabaya, barely five minutes walk from Tunjungan Plaza, the city’s largest shopping centre. Since its opening in early 2012, Midtown Hotel has steadily gained reputation as a reasonably priced alternative to higher star (and also higher priced) hotels such as JW Marriott and Sheraton, both of which are also located in the vicinity.

Yet Con Restaurant at Purvis Street
Tucked away amongst rows of colonial-era shophouses along Purvis Street is Yet Con, one of the oldest names in Singapore’s chicken rice business. We were recently informed that this is one of the few places on this little island that still serve chicken rice prepared in the traditional Hainanese way, and so that Saturday afternoon the crew visited to sample their renowned Hainanese chicken rice and some of the other highly recommended dishes on their menu.
